Saturday morning stories: Hanging out with Marijo, my wife, and Having Fun!

Marijo and I woke up early this morning. It was 6:30. I Woke up Jonathan, my oldest son, to join us, and drove to the nearby chapel.

That’s been our rituals on Saturday morning to go to the adoration chapel at Saint Malachy Church since 2005 when we moved here in Tamarac, Florida.

I met, as usual, the same people. I got in the silent room, sat quietly, and prayed.

I read the “Our Daily Bread” passage and Paul’s epistles to the Philippians. It’s about the church’s unity, the right attitude to press onward regardless of the circumstances, to forget those things which are behind, and reaching forward for those things which are ahead.

“I have learned in whatever state I am to be content,” Paul said in his thank-you note to the Philippians regarding to his needs.

I reflected on Paul’s state being “abased and abound,” on what it is to be in need, and what it is to have plenty, and to be content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Then, we went to Dunkin Donuts. As always, I window ordered a medium hot coffee with cream and sugar, and a blueberry muffin…

“A medium hot coffee with cream and sugar, and a blueberry muffin, is that complete your order today?” a female voice asked through a voice address system.

I said “yes”.

Neither Marijo nor Jonathan wanted anything.

“I got you baby. Drive to the window,” the female voice said.

Marijo told me “you have to train that lady on how to talk to a customer.”

I asked her why.

“She should not call you ‘baby’,” Marijo said while our car was moving to the window.

The lady handed me my cup of coffee and a brown bag which had my muffin… “Total 3.79”, she told me with a wide smile showing some of her golden teeth.

We drove back home…

It’s still early. Jonathan went back to sleep. Axel, our third son, is sleeping after a late night shift at work. Cassy, our daughter, is also at work.

I was busy with my muffin and coffee when Marijo asked if I want to come with her shopping.

“Hmmm…,” I moaned in a low mournful manner sipping my coffee. She insisted asking me to come with her a second time telling me we will stop at JC Penny to buy me a pair of jeans and take advantage of a $10 coupon she has.

I said “yes.”
